AGM is an acronym for Absorbed GLass Mat. In Turkish, it means impregnated glass fiber. It is included in the dry battery type. It is a type of battery that is used extensively due to its high safety and performance.
AGM batteries are suitable for short-term instantaneous high power consumption applications. Gel batteries, on the other hand, are suitable for consumers who need long-term low current. In essence, we cannot say that AGM is superior to Gel Batteries or that Gel Batteries are superior to AGM batteries.
As the temperature drops, the life of the battery increases. At high temperatures, the battery can be used for 2 years. AGM battery can be used for 7-10 years under low temperature conditions, while it can be used for 4-6 years at moderate temperatures.
AGM and EFB batteries are mandatory for vehicles with Start-Stop technology. However, it may be advantageous to switch to a higher model in vehicles using conventional batteries.
During charging of AGM batteries, the battery charger (rectifier) ​​voltage should be fixed at 14.40 V. During charging, 14.40 V should not be exceeded.
The battery must be fully charged before being taken out of operation. In AGM batteries; the charge level can only be detected via the steady-state voltage. If the steady voltage is ≤ 12.50V, the battery should be charged. It is not possible to measure the acid density or add distilled water.
